Ubisoft, the game developer behind the Far Cry franchise, announced that a new patch is coming to its 2018 hit Far Cry 5, enabling you to play smoothly on new-gen consoles of Sony PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The news came amidst the 5th anniversary of the game, which grossed over $310 million within the first week of its release. Now, the game is priced at $60 for the US region, although you can save up some money by purchasing an Xbox Game Pass. What’s so exciting about Far Cry 5?

The game centers around a deputy on a dangerous mission to capture a doomsday cult leader in Montana—with outstanding wildlife, natural graphics, and chaotic combat mechanism à la Far Cry. Although the game was initially released for PS4 and Xbox One, you can still play it via backward compatibility and it will run even smoother with this nice patch and Series X/S’s over-the-top graphical performance. Additionally, a free weekend for Far Cry 5 is also coming from March 23 to 27. Players on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S can play the title for free throughout the whole weekend, but with an option to purchase at the end of the trial. In another Xbox news, Microsoft just said that Xbox will not present during in-person event at E3 2023, and rather focuses on hosting its very own Game Showcase 2023 event on June 11, 2023.
